Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy Visits Reeco to Highlight Innovation and Growth

Reeco welcomed the Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy for a visit highlighting the role of robotics, automation and investment in improving productivity across Wales.

The visit comes as organisations across Wales are being encouraged to take advantage of grant funding available through the latest round of the SMART Flexible Innovation Support (SFIS) Capital Equipment Fund.

The fund offers grants of between £50,000 and £250,000 to help organisations invest in new machinery, equipment and technology that can improve efficiency and increase productivity. Projects that reuse materials and make better use of resources are also encouraged.

Since 2023, SMART Flexible Innovation Support has supported 171 organisations across Wales, with more than £20.1 million in grant funding awarded.

During the visit, the Minister met with Reeco’s leadership team and staff, toured its facilities and heard about the organisation’s work, achievements and plans.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase Reeco’s expertise in robotics and automation and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the sector. Discussions also focused on how investment in new technologies can help Welsh manufacturers work more efficiently, increase output and remain competitive.

Organisations considering investment in new equipment and technology are being encouraged to explore the support available through the SFIS Capital Equipment Fund.

Successful projects must demonstrate how the investment will improve productivity and deliver wider benefits for Wales. Funding can support the purchase and installation of machinery and equipment that enables organisations to improve performance, adopt new technology and remain competitive in the future.

For Welsh manufacturers in particular, the funding presents an opportunity to consider investments in technologies such as robotics and automation that can increase production efficiency and help address productivity challenges.

The Minister’s visit to Reeco highlighted how government support, combined with investment in advanced technologies, can help organisations across Wales innovate, improve productivity and create sustainable economic growth.
